Come join Harriet as she talks about her journey through the Wild West Coast - all to raise awareness and funds for Endometriosis NZ!
"Over eight grueling days, Harriet Watson accomplished what she set out to achieve – 650km of running and biking along the rugged West Coast terrain – to bring awareness to Endometriosis and raise funds for the Endometriosis New Zealand helpline.
Harriet is 1 in 10 females suffering from the condition, frequently layed up on the floor with pain like a knife stabbing into her pelvis. Although the condition is debilitating, Harriet was always determined not to let it affect her dreams too much. In December 2022, she set out on her 650km journey, running the Puponga Hills track, Heaphy Track, Old Ghost Road, and the Paparoa. A bit about Harriet:
As a 23-year-old with Endometriosis, I could choose to stay in bed for many days each month.
Instead, I have adopted the mindset that I will never feel worse for getting up and doing something, so I might as well get up.
The multisport thing isn’t new to me. Inspired by my parents, I’ve ticked off a few things - I first did the Coast to Coast in 2016, I paddled in the sprint kayaking squad at Arawa Canoe Club for four years and kayaked 100km on the Avon River in one day to raise awareness and funds for Endometriosis NZ.
Hazza’s Run 4 Endo just seemed like a great next challenge!
All proceeds from this event will go to Endometriosis NZ.
When: Tuesday 16th May, 6.15 pm for a 6:30 pm start.
Where: Further Faster, 57A Buchan St, Sydenham, Christchurch.
Tickets: $15 with all ticket sales being donated to Endometriosis NZ.
