Our 6 week self defence course aims to provide students with important skills in both street awareness and personal protection, specific to females. This course is conducted in a small group only.

We focus on building strength, resilience and self confidence over the course of 6 weeks by teaching students self defence skills and work through several confronting and common situations (e.g. being grabbed by the wrist, pulled by the hair, pinned against the wall or on the floor). The 6 week training provides an opportunity to cover techniques in more-depth and at a higher level of training then in our seminars.

Students are involved in many partner and group activities which involve working under pressure and with reaction. In the later weeks of the course, we also have our trained instructors join in with training drills to allow students to test their skills; we also utilise a full contact suit.

Whilst the course is challenging, it's important to our team that each lesson is conducted in an enjoyable and encouraging environment. We understand that parts of this course may be confronting and triggering but rest assured that our team are here to help you work through this.

This course is beginner friendly and requires a basic level of fitness to participate.
Participants aged under 16 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian participating in the course (minimum age to participate - 12 years old).
This course is for females only.

ABOUT US

Females Fighting Forward was established in 2013 by Martial Arts expert, Carly Gangell, following her desire to help women improve their self defence capabilities and increase their self confidence.

Since establishment in 2013, our programs have provided thousands of women with important self defence skills and knowledge surrounding street safety and personal protection. Our programs have been taught in schools, sporting clubs, businesses and community organisations.

COURSE FACILITATOR

Our self defence facilitator for this course will be Margie Nottle. Margie is an experienced martial artist and self defence instructor who started training with us at Boars Martial Arts in 2003 and began assisting at Females Fighting Forward in 2013. Margie is a friendly and welcoming instructor but also holds a stern and realistic approach, which is what we're all about.

Margie's self defence experience ranges to teaching self defence to teenage survivors of sex trafficking in SE Asia (Thailand, Cambodia, Philippines) and also their caretakers, social workers and rescuers in aftercare homes. Margie has been training in kickboxing, muay thai and karate (4th dan blackbelt) for almost 20 years, under the close instruction of Darren and Carly Gangell.
