8 Years of Canny and Hall with Brett Bites, Plant Based Disgrace and Sige Cabo
Event description
Quirky folk-punk duo Canny and Hall are celebrating their eight-year anniversary at Can You Keep a Secret with a double single launch and a supporting line-up of good musical friends. They’ll be sharing a selection of their frequently humorous, sometimes poignant songs featuring outlandish scenarios and a cast of recurring characters – including their new double single ‘Favourite Local Band’ / ‘Support Band’. They’ll also be launching the second issue of their zine and filming a music video. All of this, and still no-one really knows which one’s Canny and which one’s Hall.
Joining Canny and Hall on the evening are a ramshackle group of fellow folk-punks:
Brett Bites: Guitarist, poet and wordsmith, Brett is well-known as a member of Freakshow Nightmare but also has his own solo stories to tell.
Plant-Based Disgrace: These mom-and aunt cabaret punks on ukuleles have a flair for the theatrical and a gift for sharp satire.
Siege Cabo: Fresh out of the pine plantations of Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, Siege takes inspiration from everything from children’s book characters to very, very bad things, blending folk-punk with various other genres and heavy themes with hope. If you like acoustic guitars, unconventional lyrics and peculiar tales, come on down to Can You Keep a Secret on the 13th of March at 7pm to laugh, cry and ponder.
