The three closest park entrances to Garibaldi Plaza are all located on University Place (which becomes Washington Sq North) 1. University Place & Waverly Place (becomes Washington Sq East) 2. University Place & Washington Place 3. University Place & West 4th Street (becomes Washington Sq South)

Toilet location

Located in the “Washington Square Park House,” a crescent-shaped building at the southern end of the park. Washington Square Park House is wheelchair accessible. Additionally the nearest Starbucks is located at 45 West 4th Street, New York, NY 10012.

Accessible parking

Street parking is available surrounding Washington Square Park but cannot be guaranteed. Our Approach to Accessibility

We believe accessibility is also about safety, and we are committed to having a safe and accessible event for all who want to take part. We also acknowledge that there will be gaps in what we are able to provide at this time as a small grassroots organization and just as individuals. We welcome all suggestions for the future and asks for accommodations, and we will be honest about our capacity to provide those accommodations whether it be now or in the future.

Livestream & Accessing the Vigil Later

We will be live-streaming using YouTube. The stream will be accessible on March 16th via our website redcanarysong.net/events/8lives-vigil and will be published for later viewing.

ASL & Language Interpreters:

There will be ASL interpreters on stage at the event, and they will be in view on the livestream. There will be interpreter phone lines available in Mandarin, Cantonese, Korean, and Spanish for the entirety of the event. You will be able to access these phone lines at the event or online. We will have large signs in Washington Square Park with instructions on how to access the phone lines for each language.

Closed Captioning:

The livestream will have automated closed captioning. Unfortunately automated closed captioning is not perfect and there will probably be mistakes.

Seating:

We will have folding chairs on the stage for those to use as needed. There are benches all around the circumference of the plaza.
