    Event description

8x8 to Educate would like to invite you to share in a magical evening of wine tasting and appreciation as Thomas Massey from 'The Cellar Door' podcast takes us on journey. Your evening will begin in Rutherglen in Victoria where you will be introduced to the Colfield family operated winery. Here you will experience sparkling and be guided through its complexities.

Next we will move onto the Hunter Valley of NSW to Elbourne Wines, where winemaker Nick Paterson has been making wines of elegance and finesse, notably getting a 5 star James Halliday rating. Elbourne wines have donated the white for the evening and we are excited to explore how their sustainable business practices are reflected in their wines.

From here we will arrive at Sarae and Johns winery Show Block located in McLaren Vale in South Australia. The wines from Show Block have a distinctive Greek heritage. One of the trademarks of the Show Block range is to inspire people to live healthy and this philosophy is evident in their wines.

Interwoven within your wine tasting experience will be talks with Indigenous Artist Jason Passfield.   As a proud Gamillario/Gomeroi descendant Jason has incorporated native landscapes and animals into his creative storytelling through artworks for over 20 years. Jason will display two of his works and walk guest through the journey of creating these pieces and the stories they tell.

At the conclusion of the evening you will be invited to select a piece of work from the 8x8 Art Collection, comprising of small works 8 inches x 8 inches donated by local children, adults, amateurs and professional artists. These works were created to support the education of girls in developing nations. The works will be available for collection as the close of the Exhibition on the 12th June.

If you love a wine you try on the night, they can be purchased through Unovino who has kindly offered to donate the profits from these sales to 8x8 to Educate to continue to support the scholarship program for girls in Mozambique and Tanzania.
