In September, we'll get back on track, away from the International Whiskies of our August tasting, and on to the Eastern Highlands of Scotland: Glendronach.

Named for the valley of the brambles surrounding the distillery, Glendronach was the second distillery to gain a legal whisky license, and is currently under the stewardship of Dr. Rachel Barrie, a legend in the whisky industry. Dr Barrie has recently revamped the Glendronach lineup, and we're going to see how she's doing: we'll try the previous 12 and 15 year--old bottlings against her new releases. She's worked her magic at Ben Riach, and we'll see how she's doing at Glendronach (I suspect quite well!). Additionally, we'll try the highland peated Glendronach, a departure from the familiar smokey peat of Islay. We'll expect a sweeter, softer style, bolstered by some sherry maturation.
