A Balkan Boogie: Bringing in the Waning Gibbous
Description
A Feast of Music from Eastern Europe and Beyond
Balkan Boogie brings live Balkan and Asia Minor music to Junction 142, featuring new member Sebastian on accordion.
The band plays a mix of traditional and original material from across the Balkans and Asia Minor, performed on clarinet, saxophone, accordion, bass, tambura, truba and tapan (Macedonian bass drum). On the night, Balkan Boogie performs as a six-piece.
Dancing is led by dance maestro Yorgo Kaporis, with simple steps taught for anyone who wants to join in. No dance experience or partner is needed — you're also welcome to sit, listen, and enjoy the music without dancing.
A share of proceeds from ticket sales and merchandise goes to Junction 142, supporting their work with people experiencing homelessness in the Blue Mountains.
