A Buddhists Understanding of Meditation, Meaning and the Mind with Venerable Robina Courtin

In our next M3CS seminar, we’ll be joined by Venerable Robina Courtin, a renowned Buddhist nun and teacher in the Tibetan Buddhist Gelugpa tradition. Ordained in the late 1970s, she has worked extensively with the Foundation for the Preservation of the Mahayana Tradition and has held roles including editorial director of Wisdom Publications, editor of Mandala Magazine, executive director of Liberation Prison Project, and a touring teacher of Buddhism.

Because of its emphasis on deep inquiry and direct experience, Buddhism is often seen as a science of the mind rather than a faith-based tradition. Its influence has played a key role in the rise of contemplative science and psychology. In this seminar, Venerable Robina Courtin will explore how Buddhist philosophy and contemplative practices can deepen our understanding of the self, the mind, meaning, and even enlightenment.

This free monthly webinar series offers a deep dive into the realm of contemplative wisdom. Every first Thursday of the month (AEST/AEDT) at lunchtime, immerse yourself in discussions with a diverse panel of thinkers, meditators, researchers, and individuals from various wisdom traditions, discussing topics like mindful parenting, burnout, morality, and the impacts of technology on attention. These sessions, guided by Professor Craig Hassed, conclude with an interactive Q&A, giving you a unique opportunity to engage with the panellists. This series is an open invitation to explore the profound impact of contemplative practices and bridge the gap between ancient wisdom and the complexities of modern living.
