A cappella Weekend Workshop '26 (Dunedin) with Tony Backhouse

Black Gospel! Rhythm & freedom! Open To everyone!

Tony works with the passionate and exciting African-American repertoire, focusing on spirituals, gospel songs old and new, choral and quartet styles, and embracing South African church songs. The emphasis is on harmony, collective improvisation and freedom of expression.

No music-reading skills are required, and you may record the sessions.

TICKETING
It is optimal to be at both daily sessions, as we will build on the repertoire over the weekend.
However, we do appreciate how busy our lives can be, so you can choose to participate in either Saturday or Sunday.

Numbers are limited and usually sell out so we suggest pre booking. A waiting list will be available if you miss out.
Tickets CAN be purchased at the door, however please bring CASH as we do not carry credit card facilities with us.

WHAT TO BRING
Please bring your own tea mug/cup and BYO water bottle with water.
If you could please bring a share plate for morning tea on one of the two days, that would be most appreciated.

MORNING TEA - Teas will be supplied. Good coffee can found in nearby cafes.
Please bring a small plate to share for one of the morning teas. Savoury vs sweet welcome! :-)
