Kick off the 34th Wangaratta Festival of Jazz and Blues in Style at the Railyard Cafe Courtyard featuring Glenn Skuthorpe, Jimi Hocking and Nardia.

From 8PM we have Glenn Skuthorpe who is one of Australia's most prolific and powerful lyricists, composer and performer. He's earned his place on stage with some of the biggest names in music, such as Buffy Sainte-Marie, Steve Earle, Kev Carmody, Archie Roach, Rory McLeod, Michelle Shocked, Buddy Miller and Mary Gauthier.

Glenn is opening for Jimmi Hocking and Nardia who will present to you Etta James and BB Kings biggest hits and some of their favourite songs adapted with their own twist. Nardia and Jimi are musician friends who have shared the stage for a number of years, have graced some of the same festivals together and are known for their rendition medley of “I’d rather go blind and Tennesse Whiskey”. This pair are certainly dominating the Australian soul and blues scene to date and are some of the most talked about soul/ blues musicians in Australia at the moment.

Nardia has performed in front of tens of thousands of people within her home country of Australia and overseas. She has had the pleasure of supporting some of the world's most powerful icons of today including Pink, Beyonce, and Adele and has also supported some legendary Australian artists including Geoff Achison, Russell Morris and Tex Perkins. Thanks to her father, a blues guitarist, the blues was born in her veins. The church was on Sundays where she sang gospel music in a praise and worship band. Soul came next where she was casted into the Ray Charles musical "Genius" in her early twenties and a mo-town band. Soon after she created a female harmony duo Soul Chic and discovered her love for Jazz. Nardia is a regular performer at the Paris Cat Jazz club known for her original show, her Eva Cassidy show with her band Soul Chic and various other shows.

James Kevin Hocking otherwise known as Jimi the Human is an Australian musician. He has been a member of hard rock groups, The Angels and The Screaming Jets. As a solo artist he has fronted various backing bands playing hard rock, electric and acoustic blues by providing lead guitar, vocals, mandolin and keyboards. https://www.jimihocking.com/
