Description

Join storyteller Leah Lamb and artist Mark Smith for a journey through stories of change — and share some of your own stories!

Change rarely arrives on schedule. It shows up as a move, a loss, an ending, or a calling that will not stay quiet. We'll be sharing stories from The Little Book of Change: A Storied Guide to Navigating Transitions, Loss, and New Beginnings, and featuring surprise guests and local residents who will also share their stories of change.

Join us for this highly interactive community building event where together, we will explore what is it to be living in a quickly changing world.

A few considerations for how to prepare:

  • Please bring something for our altar to change: anything to feed and honor the spirit of change. You may bring flowers, fruits, or chocolates that will eventually be shared with others. You may bring a photo or relic of someone in your life who has gone through a change, or something that represents the change you are going through. Or a crystal or something else you want to beautify our community altar with and take home with you.

  • Please come prepared to begin on time. We have designed a journey for our community to experience together, and we will begin on time.

“The only way to make sense out of change

is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.”
— Alan Watts

About Leah Lamb

Leah Lamb is a storyteller, educator and founder of the School for Sacred Storytelling, where she teaches story as a relational practice that connects us to land, the unseen world, each other and ourselves. Her work draws on years as a wilderness guide, a master's degree in social work and a lifelong exploration of how story shapes identity and creates change. She grew up in Vermont, lived in California for 20 years and now lives on Maui. Learn more at leahlamb.com.

About Mark Smith

Mark Smith is an artist whose work spans multiple mediums and explores the threads that connect people, stories and the world around them. After meeting Lamb, Smith came to see his archetype as "the thread," inspired by the mythological clew Ariadne gave Theseus to find his way through the labyrinth, and by the root of the word "clue." His illustrations for The Little Book of Change serve as visual clues, inviting readers to discover and weave their own lives of meaningful change. Smith writes at eleprocon.substack.com.
