A Good Laugh - Macclesfield Institute, Macclesfield
The Event
A Good Laugh - Macclesfield Institute Saturday 2 May | Doors 7:30pm | Show 8pm
Night two of A Good Laugh rolls into the beautiful Macclesfield Institute for another cracking evening of comedy.
The Lineup
Vida Slayman takes the reins as MC. Funny, fierce and completely unafraid to lay everything bare, the Adelaide-based comedian and writer has four sold-out solo Fringe shows under her belt and has toured Australia and the UK. You're in very capable hands.
Jono Makai brings sharp suburban satire and high-energy storytelling, with quick wit and crowd work that keeps audiences laughing from start to finish. Relatable Aussie humour with just enough edge to keep you on your toes.
Kiki Bittovabitsch, the forbidden lovechild of Dame Edna and Borat, brings her gloriously unsubtle blend of stand-up and physical comedy. Smack-you-in-the-face interactive and somehow leaving you feeling completely loved up. Rated five stars by You View Australia and "F%$#ing hilarious" by Neil Morrissey. Enough said.
Jay Michael has entertained audiences from the Red Light District in Amsterdam to the Laugh Factory in Hollywood. Energetic, charismatic and award-winning, guaranteed to leave Macclesfield in stitches.
Kel Balnaves is a regional touring legend and crowd favourite with twenty years on the Australian comedy circuit. Known for engaging yarns, spot-on observations and punchy delivery, Kel makes you feel like you're chatting to your best mate at the pub. A two-time Adelaide Fringe award winner and, according to some bloke from Mt Isa, a funny bastard.
And closing the night - Claire Hooper.
Here's the problem: Claire is the least fun person she knows. So she's made a list. Actually, she's made several. She's going to hide behind a curtain, pat two dogs at the same time, send a selfie to someone standing right next to her, and attempt to start a group hug with people who are absolutely too cool for it. She's going to whisper to someone through a library shelf. Run through train doors as they're closing. Draw a picture of her enemy. Put on someone else's clothes and do their voice.
She's got a plan. It's going to involve time, energy, sweat and tears. One thing's for sure - it's not going to be fun.
Claire is either going to discover how to have fun. Or she's going to ruin it for everyone.
