Showcasing the Gulf Regional Economic Aboriginal Trust (GREAT)
Event description
Join us over breakfast to learn more about the Gulf Regional Economic Aboriginal Trust (GREAT), an Indigenous-owned organisation dedicated to developing social enterprises in Indigenous communities across the Gulf of Carpentaria.
White Box Enterprises is proud to partner with GREAT as part of our mission to mainstream jobs-focused social enterprises. We believe in their transformative power to create jobs and drive economic empowerment, especially in rural and remote Australia where access to financial, social and symbolic capital remains a challenge for First Nations entrepreneurs.
GREAT is on a mission to create an enterprise culture that uplifts Indigenous communities through the development of local businesses. Their projects range from an Indigenous-owned supermarket in Normanton to an Arts centre in Cairns and a tourist attraction near the Daintree river.
Together with Charter Hall, we invite you to this intimate showcase to discover GREAT's work. The event will also feature a fireside chat with Fred Pascoe, a proud Kurtijar Traditional Owner, Chairman of GREAT, former Carpentaria Shire Mayor and respected member of the Normanton community.
