Women's pelvic pain impacts 1 in 2 Australian women, but it’s been misunderstood, under-researched, and dismissed for a long time. This workshop offers a holistic and evidence-based approach to pelvic pain from researcher, yoga teacher, and mental health researcher, Dr Jean Byrne, in partnership with women’s health organisation, Luma.

✦ ABOUT DR JEAN BYRNE

Dr Jean Byrne is a Senior Yoga Teacher, mental health researcher, and provisionally registered psychologist with a PhD in Feminist Theory and Eastern Philosophy. She is a Chief Investigator on several clinical trials and has extensive experience designing pain and mental health interventions and practitioner training programs. She co-founded The Yoga Space with Dr Rob Schutze, delivering evidence-based classes and programs for people living with pain and trauma. Her work is also deeply informed by her own lived experience of neurodivergence, chronic pain, and disability recovery.

Luma is a women's health not-for-profit with almost 50 years of experience supporting women across Western Australia. Luma recently opened a purpose-built, government-funded Endometriosis and Pelvic Pain Clinic in Joondalup — run for women, by women — providing specialist pelvic pain support alongside holistic care for perimenopause and menopause.
