Join us for the opening event of Fiona Macpherson's solo exhibition 'a latent trace', with performances from Big Heck and Louisa. Doors at 7pm, music from 8pm.

Building on the idea that photographs can harbour a haunted dimension, ‘a latent trace’ probes the unstable relationship between images, their assigned meanings and corresponding realities. Rendering internet-mediated images through painting and digital distortion, here the material surface is a thin, porous membrane between the representational skin of the image and its murky, irrational underside; making contact with that interstitial space the trace of trauma clings to.

About the musicians:

Big Heck is a human artist of the 21st century. The debut album ‘The Earth! The Heavens! The Sapient Stars!’ is a concept album about a pixel remembering it is the entire picture. It’s new age spirituality eating aderall and content, it’s everything the ancients said, reinterpreted through formant shifters and vocoders, it’s a democracy of guitars pouring the last of its heart out, it’s an ocean that reminds you of a screensaver you saw somewhere.

Louisa is an emerging singer, songwriter and producer based in Eora/Sydney. Taking notes from visionaries like Caroline Polachek, FKA Twigs and Kelela, Louisa crafts her own ethereal blend of electronic-pop, characterised by her soft, melodic vocals and visceral, driving production.
