Marilyn Richardson has been described as 'without doubt the finest soprano, probably the finest singer in this country', now she is joining Springboard Opera to present a masterclass with the soloists from our upcoming performance, Verdi's Divas.
If you've ever wondered what it takes to bring an operatic performance to the stage, this masterclass will give you a peek behind the stage curtain. For emerging artists and singers, this is an invaluable opportunity to gain knowledge from one of Australia's greatest performers.
Marilyn was awarded a Churchill Fellowship which allowed her to study in Europe in 1972. While there, she made her international debut in Basel in 1972 singing Lulu and Salome to rave reviews. She has performed countless notable roles including many of Verdi's Divas!
She has given numerous masterclasses across the world, and we are thrilled to give you the opportunity to experience her world-class expertise up close and personal in the 4MBS Performance Studio.

Marylin Richardson
Described as 'without doubt the finest soprano, probably the finest singer in this country', Marilyn was awarded a Churchill Fellowship which allowed her to study in Europe in 1972. While there, she made her international debut in Basel in 1972 singing Lulu and Salome to rave reviews. Other notable roles include Aida, the four soprano roles in The Tales of Hoffmann, Marschallin in Rosenkavalier, Eva in Die Meistersinger, Lisa in Pique Dame, Leonora in Fidelio, Sieglinde in Die Walkure, Elsa in Lohengrin, Katya Kabanova, Donna Anna in Don Giovanni, the Countess in Figaro, Tosca, Desdemona, Isolde and Laura in Richard Meale's Voss. Marilyn has also recorded and performed an extensive range of repertoire spanning from the medieval period to the twentieth century. She was Co-ordinator and Voice Teacher for the Australian National Academy in Melbourne, and has also given numerous masterclasses in America, Asia and across the Pacific.
Anna Lee
Anna Lee graduated from Gyeongbuk Arts High School, majoring in Vocal Music. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Vocal Music from the Department of Church Music at Chongshin University and a Master’s degree in Vocal Music from Hanyang University. She was a member of the Seoul Oratorio Choir and has appeared as a soloist in various concerts and broadcast programs. She has also worked as a vocal instructor, preparing students for university entrance exams.
Jia-Peng Yeung
Australian baritone Jia-Peng is originally from Cairns in Far North Queensland and holds a Bachelor of Music (Honours Class I) from The University of Queensland (UQ), under the tutelage of Dr Shaun Brown. Jia-Peng was the recipient of The University of Queensland and St Leo’s College Music Achievement Scholarship (2018 and 2019), the UQ Ethel Osbourn Prize for Voice (2021), the UQ Margaret Nickson Prize for Voice and Piano (2021), the Open Vocal Australian Concerto and Vocal Competition (2022), and the Jessica Pratt Encouragement Award (2023). Jia-Peng was a member of the Lisa Gasteen National Program from 2021 to 2024. In 2025, Jia-Peng joins the 2025 Opera Queensland Young Artist program. He has performed operatic roles including Martin and Ein Offizier in the Lisa Gasteen National Opera Program’s double bill of Albert Lortzing’s Die Opernprobe(2022) and Schubert’s Der häusliche Krieg (2022) and Simone in The Cuskelly Summer Music School Opera Program and University of Queensland production of Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi (2020 and 2021). As a member of the Opera Queensland Chorus, Jia-Peng has performed in collaborations with Opera Australia for Wagner’s Götterdammerung (2023), Circa for Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas (2024), and with Brisbane Festival and Victorian Opera for Jonathan Mills’ Australian opera Eucalyptus (2024). Concert highlights include Haydn’s The Creation, Faure’s Requiem, Vaugh Williams’ Dona Nobis Pacem with Queensland University Musical Society, Britten’s Hymn to St Cecilia, Charpentier’s Te Deum and Mozart’s Missa Brevis in B flat with UQ Chorale, UQ Chamber Singers and UQ Singers. He has also been featured in the UQ School of Music Lunchtime Concert series, as a soloist and with the UQ Singers and UQ Chamber Singers ensembles.
Aylish Ryan
Hailing from Toowoomba, mezzo-soprano Aylish Ryan has recently completed a Bachelor of Music at the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University (QCGU), graduating with distinction. During her studies, Aylish was the recipient of the prestigious Opera Australia Regional Vocal Scholarship (2019), the Victoria Chalmers Education Award, the Elizabeth Muir Memorial Award, and the Sir Mostyn Hanger Opera Prize, and was an artist in the Lisa Gasteen National Opera Program (2023-2024). She performed the role of Orfeo in Orpheus! and Underworld: A Journey to Hell and Back (2023), the latter with accomplished director and playwright Michael Gow and Maestro Johannes Fritzsch. She worked with director Stuart Maunder as Leila in Iolanthe, repeating the role in the Lisa Gasteen National Opera Program’s Opera Scenes (2024) under the baton of Felice Venanzoni. Also in 2024, Aylish performed the role of Ruth in Kirkman and Scott’s production of The Pirates of Penzance, and worked with director Lindy Hume and Maestro Johannes Fritzsch as La Maestra delle Novizie in Puccini’s Suor Angelica (QCGU). Aylish joined the Opera Queensland Young Artist Program in 2025 and makes her company debut in Petite Messe Solennelle.
