    Event description

A Night of Jazz with Jazzmeia Horn

Presented in partnership with the University of Adelaide we are thrilled to welcome international jazz sensation, Jazzmeia Horn as the guest artist for our annual A Night of Jazz event.

Join three-time Grammy nominated, jazz sensation Jazzmeia Horn and the top graduating jazz musicians from the Elder Conservatorium of Music for a unforgettable night of performances in this Australian exclusive.

Based in New York City and enthused as one of the “most exciting young vocalists in jazz” by The New York Times and praised by prestigious publications such as The New Yorker, The San Francisco Chronicle and The Texas Monthly, Jazzmeia Horn is one of contemporary jazz’s finest voices.

Having collected the top prizes at the 2013 Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition and the 2015 Thelonious Monk Institute International Jazz Competition, Horn’s three albums A Social Call (2017), Love and Liberation (2019) and Dear Love (2021) were all nominated for Grammy Awards.

“Horn is among the most exciting young vocalists in jazz, with a proud traditionalism that keeps her tightly linked to the sound of classic figures like Nancy Wilson and Betty Carter, but a vivacity of spirit and conviction that places her firmly in the present.” – The New York Times

Be transported by one of jazz’s brightest stars and the sheer exuberance of Jazzmeia Horn.

This event includes the presentation of the 2023 Helpmann Academy Jazz Awards.
