Event description

Presented in partnership with the University of Adelaide and the City of Adelaide we are thrilled to welcome back to Adelaide, international jazz sensation, Jazzmeia Horn as the guest artist for our annual A Night of Jazz event.

“…one of the most talked-about singers to come on the scene in years.”
Hot House Jazz Magazine

Join multi-award-winning vocalist extraordinaire Horn, with her stunning vocals, inspired scatting and irresistible vivacity as she performs with the top graduating jazz musicians from the Elder Conservatorium of Music for an unforgettable night of performances, at the iconic Adelaide Town Hall.

Drawing on her love for legendary singers such as Nina Simone and Sara Vaughan, Jazzmeia’s sound, however, is completely her own.

“She positively ruled the stage… scatting with the agility of an Olympic gymnast and delivering ballads with simmering intensity and exquisite precision.”
 – San Francisco Chronicle

Performing material from her latest release Messages, this marks her highly anticipated return to Adelaide.

Featuring very special guests, local hip hop group DEM MOB from the Centre of Aboriginal Studies in Music (CASM), University of Adelaide.

Celebrate the enduring musical legacy of Helpmann Academy’s 30 years with performances by jazz alumni in the foyer before A Night of Jazz and during the interval.

This event includes the presentation of the Helpmann Academy Jazz Awards 2024.
