Description

For too long, intrafamilial child sexual abuse (incest) has remained hidden behind closed doors, protected by secrecy, shame, fear, and disbelief. It is one of the most challenging and confronting issues facing our society. That is why we are bringing this issue out of the shadows and refusing to stay silent.

Join us for a screening of the short film Not Even A Mouse which powerfully captures the family dynamics that so often enable and conceal abuse, even when it occurs in plain sight. Following the film, a special guest panel will explore how families, professionals, and everyday Australians can help create a culture of protection, accountability, and prevention.

A NO LAUGHING MATTER Film Screening & Panel Event

Thursday 16th July

Canva: 110 Kippax St, Surry Hills

Doors open: 5:30pm. Starts at 6:00pm

Panel Moderator: Jane Caro (Journalist, Author, Lecturer)

  • Melissa Holmes (CEO Stepping Out)

This is an opportunity to come together as a community and challenge the stigma that keeps this issue hidden. Creating safer futures for children requires courage from all of us. Courage to learn, courage to listen, and courage to have difficult conversations. Every child deserves to grow up safe, valued, and protected. By showing up, engaging in the conversation, and becoming part of the solution, you can help create lasting change for future generations.
