“You cannot get through a single day without having an impact on the world around you. What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make.” — Jane Goodall
Happy Birthday to Jane Goodall, one of the world’s most impactful conservationists and inspirational figures in the environmental movement.
We want to take this month to celebrate the spirit of the work that Jane Goodall and countless others have done to encourage environmental awareness, and the individual actions we can make to be better stewards of the Earth. This week we will be highlighting opportunities throughout the month from local organizations doing really cool things to make our world a better place at the local level.
This is a small sample of events that happened to get on our radar, and we encourage you to look in your local neighborhood for opportunities to make a difference in your own backyard.

Permaculture Book Club - Online
In this first iteration of the Permaculture Guild Book Club, we will be exploring how to make our gatherings (small and large) more meaningful by questioning some of the conventions and structures that end up shaping our meetings. We will look at the wisdom of "it's always been done this way" and find ways to give greater depth and connection to our community by putting intention first.
This month we will be reading “The Art of Gathering: How We Meet and Why it Matters” by Priya Parker.
Amazon
description: In The Art of Gathering, Priya Parker argues that the
gatherings in our lives are lackluster and unproductive--which they
don't have to be. We rely too much on routine and the conventions of
gatherings when we should focus on distinctiveness and the people
involved. At a time when coming together is more important than ever,
Parker sets forth a human-centered approach to gathering that will help
everyone create meaningful, memorable experiences, large and small, for
work and for play.
