A Place For Us
Event description
In an era of rapid technological change and prohibited access, we know that young people deserve a meaningful voice in shaping the digital spaces they inhabit.
This workshop brings together young Australians (under 19 years), designers, and technologists to collaboratively imagine and prototype the online environments of tomorrow.
Through hands-on activities and creative exploration, participants will move beyond traditional platform models to envision digital spaces that truly serve their needs, interests, and aspirations. This immersive design experience empowers young people as the architects of their own digital future. Working alongside industry professionals, participants will tackle key questions: What makes a digital space feel safe yet engaging? How can we balance privacy with authentic connection? What features would support creativity, learning, and meaningful interaction? The workshop will transform these insights into tangible prototypes, demonstrating how youth perspectives can drive innovation in digital design.
Brought to you by Today, Satellite Foundation, Project Rockit, and Dr Steve Leicester, this workshop aims to channel these complex concerns into a constructive design process, empowering young people to imagine and prototype a digital space that prioritises their needs and aspirations.
