A rainbow connection - Andean haywarikuy ceremony for all ages

For all ages, let’s celebrate Mother Earth with a rainbow Andean offering.
Laura Macdonald has returned to Boonwurrung country after a decade living in the mountains of Perú. This interactive ceremony is called a haywarikuy (local language Quechua) otherwise known as a despacho (Spanish), taught by her Q'ero maestros (teachers). The Q'eros are the wisdom keepers of the Andean mountains. With them, Laura has been walking the path of Tahuatinsuyo (the Four Directions) for many years and is a mesa carrier.
Families are particularly encouraged to join this event, but we welcome everyone (sorry no pets). This ceremony will be in honour of Laura’s nephew Oswald who is turning seven.
A haywarikuy is an offering of sacred reciprocity (ayni) or a payment to the earth (pago a la tierra) that is co-created with every person who attends. No prior experience is necessary. Together we will build a rainbow bridge from our hearts up to the stars – we will connect with the Pleiades, also known as the Seven Sisters (canchis qoto kuna).
Laura will gather a range of natural elements and ingredients, each one representing important things that we will call in together: such as good health; safe travel; clear communication; family connection; and much more. Before you come, have a think about a special mountain, waterway or place in your, or your child’s life.

The session will begin promptly by opening the space in the Tahuatinsuyo tradition. Everyone will be invited to call in their ancestors, guardians and sacred places, either silently or with voice. Then the haywarikuy will take place, during which each person will make their own prayers (k’intus). We will finish with a celebration of music as time allows. - What to bring?
· For each person attending, just collect five leaves or petals to take part. Keep them small so they can fit in your palm, and there will be extras for those who might forget on the day.
· If someone needs a chair, please let us know in advance.
· Though Waves Farm does provide them, feel free to bring your favourite pillow, blanket or mat.
· If you would like to bring along an instrument, you are most welcome.
