Time to Shine: Free creative workshops for seniors, a series of six options

Clifton School of Arts is pleased to offer a series of free creative workshops for seniors (aged 60 and over) as part of the NSW Seniors Festival 2025. The series of six classes under the banner, Time to Shine: Inspiring Art Classes for Seniors, will be led by well-known local artists and professionals in each field. 

Classes are limited to 12 participants. Light refreshments are provided.

Special Parking Note

Parking can be challenging at CSA. Where possible, please help us by car pooling or using public transport. There is additional parking outside Scarborough Public School (a 10-minute walk). 

CLASSES

Thursday 6 March, 9-11.30am. Floral art with Shelley Downer from Twig & Bo Florist, Woonona. Learn about the elements of successful floral design as you spend the morning creating a vase arrangement to take home. Fresh flowers, foliage, twine, vases etc provided.  

Friday 7 March, 9.30am-12.30pm. Watercolours with well-known artist Christine Hill. Learn to work with three tube colours to create floral artworks with a whole spectrum of colours. Pencils, erasers, rulers provided. 

Monday 10 March, 9am-12.30pm. Smartphone photography with professional photographer Sharon Hickey. Gain the confidence to transform everyday moments into extraordinary photographs. 

Tuesday 11 March, 10am-1pm. Drawing with pencils, with artist and educator Elspeth McCombe. Learn drawing technique in this class which suits beginners as well as those experienced in drawing. 

Friday 14 March, 10am-1pm. Hand-building with clay: An introduction, with artist Susie McIntosh. Learn the processes involved in turning wild clay into glazed functional ware, and create a pinch or coiled pot, which can be fired at a later date. Materials provided. 

Sunday 16 March, 9.30am-12.30pm. Gift tags using your own artwork, with artist and educator Barbara Gray. Explore your creativity using various techniques to make watercolour gift tags. All materials supplied. 

These free workshops have been made possible by a grant from the NSW Government's Department of Communities and Justice to celebrate NSW Seniors Festival 2025.
