A Shakespearean Afternoon
Event description
This January Wayfarers Australia will again delight South Coast residents and visitors with music theatre workshops and performances. The 34 performers, aged 5 to 79, will be directed by Judith Clingan AM, assisted by her daughter Jess Dixon, a drama teacher and visual artist, and three young adults who have been performing with Judy since their childhoods. These young people will look after lighting, stage management, props and wardrobe.
Workshops and performances will be offered in four towns:
Bodalla Wednesday 17th
Cobargo Thursday 18th
Bermagui Friday 19th
Tilba Saturday 20th
Afternoons 2.00 – 3.00: a choral workshop for adults and young people from 11 years who love singing – they can learn part-songs from Elizabethan England, and songs to Shakespeare’s words. Some of the pieces require sopranos, altos, tenors and basses; some only require three parts (sopranos, altos and men); some work perfectly well with no men at all! Music will be provided; Wayfarers will assist each vocal line.
Afternoons 3.15 – 4.15: A Shakespearean Afternoon: songs presented by Wayfarers, with some participation by workshop participants, followed by a performance of the hilarious play-within-a-play Pyramus and Thisbe, from Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
