A Stitch in Time - Decorative Mending Using Embroidery & Sashiko
Event description
Visible mending techniques like embroidery and Japanese Sashiko are fun and innovative ways to extend the useable life of clothing, reduce the need and our reliance on the consumption of ‘new’ items, and improve environmental outcomes.
This workshop is best suited for intermediate to advanced-level sewers.
Join Margot Reincastle at the sustainable reuse enterprise Trashy, Penrith, to learn how to mend clothes using embroidery and Japanese sashiko creatively. Add your touch to apparel with visible mending techniques that allow you to explore your artistic flair using clothing as a wearable canvas.
Materials will be provided to teach the techniques, and if time allows, facilitators may assist with items brought from home that need repairing.
Funded by the NSW Environmental Protection Agency, supported by Penrith City Council.
