The Walking Club of Victoria invites you to join them for a stroll through Clarinda Parks: Bald Hill and Namatjira Park Walk. Grade 2 (Easy). This walk is part of the Try Bushwalking Month, celebrating the 90th Anniversary of Bushwalking Victoria, the peak body representing 60+ bushwalking clubs across Victoria.

Try this stroll with the Walking Club of Victoria through the wide-open spaces of Bald Hill Park before enjoying the Namatjira wetlands with its waterbirds and wildlife. Clarinda is 18 km south-east of the CBD, within the City of Kingston and this walk will showcase two very different parks. An easy walk for those who would like fresh air, some exercise and the companionship of like-minded people

DISTANCE: A delightful 6 km Loop.

WHO IS THIS WALK FOR? The Walking Club of Victoria offers strollers walks for those who would like a gentle stroll or who may be recovering from injury. They are typically 6-8 kilometres long, reasonably flat (gentle undulations) and at a moderate pace. Come along if you would like to try walking with a group but aren’t sure of your fitness level. These walks can enable you to build up to longer walks in the bush.

CHILDREN AND PETS: This walk is for adults 18 years and over, and due to the nature of the walk, we ask you to leave dogs and other pets at home. Please contact the club directly to inquire about service animals, and any family or pet friendly walks.

AWT GRADE: 2 (Easy) - No bushwalking experience required. A hardened or compacted surface which may have gentle hill sections or occasional steps. AWT Grade information.

PACE: Steady pace, tailored to the needs of the group.

WALK DESCRIPTION: Get some gentle exercise while exploring two of Clarinda’s diverse parks.

Bald Hill Park is a sprawling open space with wide open grassy areas and walking and bike trails winding through the trees, an off-leash dog area, as well a disc golf course and expansive playground. There are shelters, picnic tables and BBQ area, with toilets and drinking fountain.

We will have an early morning tea stop (after the first kilometre) in Bald Hill Park (and perhaps even a flying disc practice) and lunch in Namatjira Park.

The Namatjira Wetlands sits adjacent to Namatjira Park and provides a home to a wide variety of water birds and wildlife, which can be enjoyed by raised boardwalks and bird lookouts, and also helps treat stormwater and provides a retarding water basin that provides flood protection of local properties.

MEETING POINT: Bald Hill Park Carpark on Bunney Road, Clarinda (opposite St Andrews Primary School) – nearest intersection is Bunney Road and Wayne Court.

ABOUT OUR CLUB: The Walking Club of Victoria is a small friendly club where new members are very welcome. We offer two or three walks per week, on Wednesday and Sunday and a Strollers Walk usually on a Thursday or Friday every two or three weeks. We always end our Sunday walks at a coffee shop or car boot afternoon tea. Wednesday walks start with coffee and are accessible by public transport. Our members generally live in inner and outer suburban Melbourne and our walks can be in the North, South, East or West, but usually within an hour or hour and half of the city. Every year we offer numerous weekday and weekend walking trips, coupling together two or three consecutive days of walking, and social activities.
