    Event description

impactED are offering informative workshops to communicate our Structured Approach to Literacy resource, and what our team will be offering in this space.

At impactED, we are committed to excellence in literacy instruction through a structured approach grounded in research and best practices. Our structured approach to literacy encompasses three core pillars: the science of learning, the science of reading, and the science of writing.

This evidence-based methodology integrates insights from cognitive psychology, neuroscience, and educational research to understand how students learn. By focusing on cognitive processes like sustained attention, working memory, and inhibitory control, we tailor instruction to meet the diverse needs of learners.

A structured approach to literacy is characterised by explicit teaching methods, systematic and cumulative instruction, multimodal engagement, and diagnostic assessment. By providing teachers with evidence-based tools and principles, we empower them to deliver high-quality literacy instruction that fosters student success.

Key components of our structured approach to literacy include:

    • Phonological awareness and decoding instruction as foundational skills.
    • Integration of reading and writing instruction for comprehensive literacy development.
    • Differentiated support for students with diverse learning needs, including those with reading difficulties.
    • Ongoing professional development to ensure teachers have the expertise to deliver effective instruction.

Through the structured approach to literacy, we aim to cultivate confident, proficient readers and writers who are equipped with the skills necessary for success.
