Event description

On Gundungurra Country -

Welcome to this Fundraising event for Bundanoon Folk Festival - Two bands to give you a taste of the wonderful venues and acts you will be able to experience on the last weekend of November. The natural acoustics and ambience of the Holy Trinity Anglican Church Bundanoon are exquisite.

We Mavericks - Musical twins and mavericks besides, they’re folk that resembles everything else: Bringing challenging originals, entertaining stories and incredible energy, this new duo packs emotional punches but have songs to heal the scars.

Originally from the NSW Riverina and NZ respectively, Lindsay Martin’s masterful strings and vocal meets songstress Victoria Vigenser’s magnificent voice and driving rhythms in a connection that is hard to describe. They're known already for uniquely gritty, evocative songs with echoes of their love for Americana and Celtic traditional music amongst the harmonies.

Coming together for just a handful of performances in 2018, audiences gave the duo no choice but to continue. Their original collaboration has been making a bold mark on both sides of the Tasman after only a couple of years performing - a steep and fast rise to Australasian festivals and shows has seen the duo selected as a showcase artist for Folk Alliance International 2022, nominated “Te Kaipuoro Taketake Toa | Best Folk Artist” 2022 and 2020 in the Aotearoa (New Zealand) Music Awards, nominated “Best Contemporary Duo/Group/Ensemble” 2021 Australian Folk Music Awards, and the 2020 recipients of Australia’s Troubadour Foundation Award.

Antipodeans - Take 2 avid and mellifluous folk singers, add 2 top notch bluegrass instrumentalists in folk mode and press play! The initial spark, lit way back on a magic folk festival session , has come to fruition.. Antipodeans bring the joy of the folk song back into full focus with best loved and wild sourced ballads and tunes. The harmonic blending of voices and instruments gives a new insight and joyful interpretation of classic folk songs and originals .All band members are well known in the folk scene and beyond . Antipodeans débuted recently at the Cobargo folk festival and were received by enthusiastic audience response.
