A Taste of Korea
Event description
This Labour Weekend, learn to make some yummy dishes, popular in South Korea, then sit down and enjoy them with others!Â
We will get a taste of South Korea with our host Maria Chung. Maria is from Yongin in South Korea and moved to Methven at the start of 2024 so her two children could experience a New Zealand school and kiwi lifestyle.
Maria will share Korean culture and cuisine with us. Get some new recipe ideas, learn about another country and enjoy a lovely dinner together with others.
We will prepare:
- Bibimbap - a rice bowl topped with all sorts of seasoned sautéed vegetables, marinated beef, a fried egg, Korean spicy sauce and a sprinkle of sesame. Anything you don't like or can't eat can be omitted as you assemble each ingredient on top of rice in your own bowl. (suitable for gf, df, v, vt)
- Sodduk sodduk - rice cakes and sausage skewers with a sweet, spicy, tangy sauce. Delicious Korean street food! (suitable for gf, df, v, vt). Choose vegan/ vegetarian option when booking tickets for vegan sausages.
Also part of the menu will beÂ
- Kimchi - we cannot make this in the timeframe but no Korean meal would be complete without this spicy, fermented cabbage and radish side dish! The one we'll purchase for you to try is vegan, gf & df.
- Sikhye - a Korean sweet rice drinkÂ
Limited to 10 people so get in quick.
(v= vegan, vt= vegetarian, df= dairy free, gf= gluten free)
