    A Taste of Russia

    Event description

Learn to make some yummy dishes, popular in Russia, then sit down and enjoy them with others!

We will get a taste of Russia with our host Anna McDonald. Anna is originally from Moscow but after 20 years living there with her Kiwi husband John, they moved to Ashburton in 2018 and she now calls New Zealand home.

Under Anna's guidance, we will prepare a 3 course menu that features classic borsch to start with - a delicious beetroot & vegetable soup (v, gf, df), which will be accompanied by sour cream, bread and butter (all optional).  Borsch will be followed by crispy chicken tabaka (gf, df) with Russian-style fries (v, gf, df) and a salad (v, gf, df), with an alternative option for vegetarians/ vegans of stuffed zucchini (v, gf, df). Then to conclude we will make the refreshing and light fruity dessert Kissel (v, gf, df).

Please select the appropriate ticket when booking (chicken or zucchini main) so we know how much of the different ingredients we need to buy. If the ticket type you want is not available, please email kate@connectingmc.org to say what you want and we can likely sort it for you. The event is suitable for those needing a gluten free and dairy free meal, also suitable for vegans.

Come along and get some new recipe ideas, learn about another country and enjoy a delicious dinner together with others! A tasty and filling 3 course meal and a wonderful learning experience for $18.85 is a bit of a bargain don't you think?

Limited to 10 people so get in quick.

(v= vegan, vt= vegetarian, df= dairy free, gf= gluten free)

This event is one in a series of 'A Taste of... ' cooking classes organised & subsidised by Keep Learning Mid Canterbury and the Mid Canterbury Newcomers Network.
