A workshop on growing and displaying dahlias with Brian Tunks from bison in Pialligo.
Event description
Brian Tunks from bison will be hosting a workshop on how he became a dahlia grower by accident. We’ll spend some time discussing growing techniques and also the experiences Brian has had creating dahlia gardens in different settings. We’ll then go for a walk through the front gardens and down to our main patch in the paddock (approx 200m walk with a gentle slope). All attendees will be able to cut some flowers and bring them back to the bison potting shed to try some styling for themselves and tools will be provided. We’ll examine ways to add simple foliage from your garden and look at how we can then create simple beauty in your home.
Bison will also provide some refreshments (from our talented friends at the Pialligo Bakesmith) and a glass of sparking wine with no alcoholic options. All participants will also receive a small vase from Brian so that you can continue exploring your own personal style at home. The class structure will be very informal with questions welcomed, and we ask that you wear closed-toe shoes suitable for gentle walking and long pants. If you would like then maybe blockout, a hat, and insect repellant for the paddock would be a good idea.
We can’t wait to share our experiences with you and to talk about all things dahlia.
