What Are American Friends Good For?: Friendship, Antagonism, and Writing


Join us on the 6th of July for our 4th of July themed networker!


We’re pleased to welcome Dr Lucy Neave to our informative Australian American themed discussion and networking series, the AAA Forum.

A former Fulbright Scholarship recipient, Dr Neave is the author of Believe in Me (UQP, 2021), which was highly commended for the Christina Stead Prize in 2022 and was recently awarded the $10,000 ACT 2022 Book of the Year prize.

Her first novel, Who We Were, was published by Text (Melbourne, 2013), and shortlisted for the ACT Book of the Year Award in 2014. She has published in Best Australian Stories 2009 & 2014, and in Australian and American literary journals, including in Overland and Southerly. Her scholarly essays are on fiction writing process, writers' practices and pedagogy. She is the recipient of an Australia Council for the Arts grant, a Varuna Second Book Fellowship, a 2018 Griffith Review novella prize and is a former Fulbright scholar.
