What:

Join Robyn Fox and Cerae Mitchell for an interactive session that explores nature journaling as a powerful tool for deepening our connection to nature, fostering mindfulness, and regenerating our relationship with the Earth.

Drawing from their collaboration in outdoor and environmental education, Cerae and Robyn will share insights on using nature journaling to cultivate observation skills, curiosity, and emotional connection to place. Participants will also engage in a guided journaling session, experiencing firsthand how this practice can support environmental education, personal well-being, and planetary care.

No prior journaling experience is required. Bring your curiosity, a pen or pencil, paper, and two items to draw from nature that represent your natural environment. A beverage of your choice is optional.

Bios

Cerae Mitchell is a mother to two amazing young girls, an environmental educator, a Forest Therapy guide, and a secondary art teacher with a passion for fostering meaningful connections with nature. She founded Drop Into Nature to offer guided experiences that encourage people to slow down, deepen their connection with the natural world, and cultivate mindfulness through nature journaling and forest therapy.

Cerae sees nature journaling as a practice that enriches experiences in nature, fosters mindfulness, and encourages curiosity. She values it as a way to develop observation and inquiry skills, cultivate attention to detail, and support a growth mindset through creative exploration. Whether through sketches, words, numbers, or reflections, she believes that nature journaling is a personal and unique practice that deepens our relationship with the natural world.

Robyn Fox is a lecturer in Outdoor Environmental Education at the University of the Sunshine Coast, Australia and a grandma to four beautiful grandkids. Her research examines the impacts and opportunities of climate change on outdoor environmental education, as well as the role of field naturalist journals in fostering ecological literacy in outdoor environmental studies. She has a passion for the river, mountain and coastal environments of south-eastern Australia and enjoys teaching and spending time in these places.
