Abbeyfield Wānaka Cinema Fundraiser Night

Please arrive in plenty of time to park, pre-order food for the interval, and join the Abbeyfield Team Welcome.

We have booked the whole venue (156 seats). The start time has been staggered over 3 cinemas so your start time may either be 7 or 7.15pm.

We will be showing the new Ryan Gosling Movie - Project Hail Mary. Ryan Gosling in a recent interview described the movie as: "Hopeful, and a reminder of how capable we are as humans." It's based on the best selling book by Andy Weir.

Pre-movie we are launching a new Abbeyfield Wānaka short film to raise awareness of the crucial need for affordable accommodation for local seniors.

The prize draw will be announced in the foyer at interval.

Abbeyfield Wānaka is a registered charity working to build a Wānaka house that provides comfortable and affordable rental accommodation for 14 independent Upper Clutha seniors.

A bit like “flatting” but in studio en-suites, sharing living and dining areas, and with all meals provided.

The house offers rental security, affordability,  fun and companionship, allowing people to live their best lives and stay in this region they call home.

For some retirees, who might otherwise have to leave this town, Abbeyfield Wānaka will be a life changing project. 

The volunteer team for Abbeyfield House Wānaka must raise the funds vital to getting this house built.

This house will be built for locals, by locals. So thank all of you for your support.

The prize draw will be randomly digitally selected from all ticket sales the day of the event witnessed by a JP.

We’re looking for a very special kind of volunteer to join the Fundraising and Community Engagement Team.

There are currently four of us that volunteer across PR/Media, Events, Fundraising, Trusts and Legacies. But, it's a pretty big job, and we need more hands.

We are looking for:

Someone with ideas. Someone who gets things done. Someone who wants to give back in a meaningful way.

We are on a mission to create affordable, community-based housing for older people, so they can continue to live in this place they love. But we can’t do it without the right people alongside us.

For the right person, this is an opportunity to help solve a real issue in our community and leave a lasting legacy.

If you’ve got a bit of time to volunteer, a lot of initiative, and a desire to make a difference, we’d love to hear from you.
