Abby Smith & Genni Kane - Singer songwriters extraordinaire @ FatWombat Farm
Description
Fat Wombat Farm presents two of the Central West most evocative and beautiful songwriters for wonderful afternoon of original music . Set in the high country amongst the gumtrees you can bring a picnic, chair and a blanket to lay back and enjoy the ambience of Genni and Abby's music.
Genni Kane has been writing songs and performing them for over 40 years. She first found her
feet as a songwriter with the legendary ARIA and multiple Golden Guitar winning 80’s band, Flying
Emus. It was during this time that Genni discovered a love of writing in her own voice; writing
about what she knew and experienced every day.
Genni has written songs for many projects and artists in the ensuing years from Slim Dusty to
Bananas in Pyjamas, and many others. After being involved in lots of other musicians’ recordings
Genni finally released her first solo album SELFIES, at the age of 55. This new collection of songs
set Genni on a path of writing about herself. Writing about the every-day life of a woman of a
certain age. She has certainly struck a chord with both listeners and critics.
Abby Smith is a central west based professional singer/songwriter, recording artist, gigging musician and educator. She has been writing songs since her twenties and playing and recording music for the past two decades, as a solo act, backing singer, and as part of touring band Smith & Jones, a folk/alt act playing all original music. Over her career she has recorded a solo self-titled EP, two albums with Smith & Jones (with a third in the works) and written for a touring theatre show (Highway of Lost Hearts with Lingua Franca) amongst various other musical endeavours.
