The ABC Young Performers Awards is Australia's most prestigious and longest-running classical music competition, which has for decades provided a national platform for emerging artists to launch their professional careers. In 2026, in celebration of ABC Classic's 50th anniversary, the competition has returned with a renewed commitment to fostering the next generation of exceptional young artists.

About Sheng-Yuan Lynch:
Sheng-Yuan Lynch showed a great interest in piano and classical music from the age of three, learning the instrument by listening to recordings. In 2012, he began formal lessons with Shan Deng, Senior Lecturer in Classical Piano at the University of Tasmania’s Conservatorium.
Graduating from The Hutchins School in 2023, he passed his AMEB AMusA and LMusA diplomas with the highest grades by the age of 12. He is currently undertaking his third year of Bachelor of Music at UTAS, majoring in classical piano and film composition.
Sheng-Yuan has given performances in Australia, Asia, and Europe. Highlight appearances include a being guest pianist with the QSO and TSO, as well as a performance alongside internationally renowned ballet superstar Roberto Bolle. Prestigious recognitions include the Elizabeth Murdoch Prize of the 2024 Great Romantics Competition, the runners-up for the 2022 Young Lev Vlassenko Piano Competition, and the 2018 TSO Rising Star.
Using music as a way to assist those in need, Sheng-Yuan has performed numerous charity concerts, helping donate a total of almost $200,000 to various organisations since he was 11. He was honoured with the 2021 City of Hobart Young Citizen of the Year in recognition of his philanthropic efforts.

The performance will be recorded and filmed, and attended by a live adjudication panel.
Guests are kindly requested to arrive at least 10 minutes before the event start time as lockouts may apply for late arrivals.
