The Local Government Association of Tasmania is offering you this FREE opportunity to come together and collectively unpack mindsets, engagement, measurement, and leadership shifts that help councils move beyond traditional service delivery toward strengthening community capacity and equity.

This learning journey aligns with the Local Government Association of Tasmania’s ambition to build a capable, confident, future-ready local government workforce - one that strengthens relationships, deepens engagement practice, and responds to contemporary legislative and community expectations. In a world of safeguarding our young people, we are all accountable and responsible to achieve this.

Drawing on lived stories, global practice, and practical frameworks from the book, these sessions will offer tools, examples, and provocations to help participants rethink how councils and communities can plan, engage, and act together.

The importance of reflective practice, wellbeing and being able to be our best-selves in our roles is needed now more than ever.

Based on the book ABCD & Beyond: A Practical Guide for Local Government, this learning series invites council officers and councillors to explore practical ways of applying Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) in local government contexts. A copy of the book will be sent to each individual participant that registers for the series. The series will begin on July 16th 2026 and having your own book will be part of the learning, at checkout please provide your details and delivery address for the book.
