Walking Together with Kaurna: Aboriginal Games, Stories and Songs

Family Friendly (supervision by parent or guardian required)

Lead facilitator Drew Kilner, a Kaurna and Ngarrindjeri man, will be leading the activities with the support of Matt Sevallos, who is an Arrernte, Alyawarre, Gurindji and Larrakia man.

Liesl von der Borch, founder and co-director of Walking Together with Kaurna, has, as much as possible, been creating the games to be played with a sense of authenticity i.e. the possum skin balls, the wooden marbles, the old wooden cotton spools.

Games will include:

PIRRHA

A ball spinning game of the Arabana mob of Kati Thanda (Lake Eyre), South Australia

PUTH

A ‘flip the cotton reel’ game played by the Murrinh-Patha mob of the Northern Territory

NANDRRA-RNA

A marble game of the Kokatha mob of South Australia played with wooden marbles.

This is a NAIDOC 2026 event, part of the Deadly in the Hills collaboration.
