A 4-hour workshop to gain knowledge and awareness of the culture, history and experiences of Australia's First Peoples during National Reconciliation Week.

Presented by Auspire - Australia Day Council WA and facilitated by a First Nations' educator, this workshop explores the cultures, values and belief systems of Aboriginal people, and discusses the impacts of colonisation and how these still play out today.

This session is ideal for individuals and teams starting out their Aboriginal cultural competency journey, to facilitate real and lasting change through changed attitudes and behaviours at both a professional and personal level. You will have the opportunity to have your questions answered within a culturally safe and inclusive space.

Topics include:

Aboriginal history
Key cultural protocols, values and belief systems
The impact of colonisation and dispossession
Barriers between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people today
The journey to wellbeing.

Participants receive morning tea, a workshop booklet, a certificate of participation and a resources list to help continue their journey. If you are keen to apply the learnings and theories in practice, check out our Walking Together in Action workshop later in the day.
