Abortion Support Person Training October
Event description
This workshop is designed for individuals seeking guidance on providing support to a friend in accessing and undergoing an abortion. Our aim is for participants to gain increased confidence by the workshop’s conclusion, enabling them to offer both emotional and physical assistance to friends or family members throughout the abortion process. This workshop will provide you the tools to advocate for yourself and others seeking abortion care.
You will be provided a workbook to keep and helpful resources links to continue your learning.
You do not need to know anything about abortion or reproductive and sexual health to attend this training!
This workshop runs for 1 hour and covers the following topics.
- What to do if your friend or family member is pregnant and wants and abortion
- What your rights are when seeking abortion care
- What to expect (abortion procedures)
- What it means to be a support person
- Boundaries and self-care
This workshop is presented by Children by Choice and Sexual Health Victoria
ALWAYS WAS, ALWAYS WILL BE ABORIGINAL LAND
Children by Choice acknowledge the traditional owners of country throughout Queensland and their continued connection to land and community. We recognise the two separate cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Children by Choice recognises the dispossession of land and its ongoing effects on Aboriginal peoples today. We acknowledge the sorrow of the Stolen Generations and apologise for the removal of children by white Australians.
This event is offered in accordance with Children by Choice’s pro-choice framework. Children by Choice reserves the right to refuse registrations and remove individuals from the event.
