Introduction to Abortion and Pregnancy Options
Event description
This workshop aims to build your skills and confidence in talking with individuals about their pregnancy options. This workshop will explore the history of sexual and reproductive health in Australia, what abortion provision looks like throughout the country and who Children by Choice is. The workshop will also cover key theoretical concepts within the reproductive rights movement, such as reproductive justice and intersectionality. Â
Throughout the workshop, we encourage participants to engage in several personal reflections and value clarification activities to help deepen individual learning. This workshop also covers areas of myth-busting and discusses the different ways in which people might find themselves wanting to discuss their pregnancy options. Â
This workshop also introduces participants to the principles surrounding compassionate abortion care and the different types of abortions a person may have access to in Australia. Â
On completion of this workshop, you will:Â
- Have an understanding of key theoretical frameworks which underpin the reproductive rights movement, such as intersectionality, reproductive justice and feminist theory. Â
- Be able to articulate the difference between abortion care and compassionate abortion care. Â
- Have a greater understanding of abortion provision in Australia, and the history of sexual and reproductive health in Australia. Â
