Abraham Lincoln's Three Visits to the Ohio Statehouse
777 W State St
columbus, united states
Event description
Presented by Dayna Jalkanen, Deputy Director of Museum and Education at Capitol Square.
This talk will focus on Abraham Lincoln's three visits to Columbus, specifically his times at the Ohio Statehouse. In only six years, Columbus witnessed Lincoln's rising political star reaching the highest position in the United States, only to come crashing down with his untimely death at the hand of an assassin's bullet. The brand-new Ohio Statehouse, completed in 1861, was the site of important moments in Lincoln's history. Lincoln continues to impact the Ohio Capitol building to this day.
