Abuzz! Nillumbio
Event description
Join our funraising fundraiser - Abuzz! on August 30th
Hear from Fabian Douglas, one of Nillumbik's favourite sons, and renowned entomologist and ecologist.
Fabian will show images and share insights shaped by many years of observation and passion, crawling under and over logs, rustling through leaf litter, peeking under bark, looking through microscopes and hand-rearing caterpillars.
His deeply informative stories are always an inspiration.
Listen to the enchanting sounds of local musicians Rodney Waterman, the Chocolate Lilies Choir, and Tristan Pierce.
Contemplate local ecosystems and action through the diverse approaches of Stephanie Mortlock, James Parker, Deb Oliver, Robert Bennetts, Michael Smith, and B Woodland Walters.
Share in fabulous conversation, enjoy tasty treats, revel in the delights of our community...
Since sprouting in 2021, Nillumbio has offered walks, talks, gatherings, plantings, workshops and more.
We have joyfully connected to many hundreds of eager locals, visitors, schools and other community groups sharing in learning that informs and inspires action for the protection and reinvigoration of our environment.
We do it all in line with our ethos, to fulfill our vision (which you can see on the home page www.nillumbio.org).
Copious time and skills are offered voluntarily, and we personally fund things like the website, learning resources etc.
We have decided to do a fundraiser to expand our capacity.
$20 (or more!) is appreciated, but whatever works for you.
We understand and honour the fact that we are living within a system successfully cared for over millennia by the Indigenous people of Australia.
We live with respect for Elders across this land, and across time, and acknowledge the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung as Traditional Custodians of this area.
Sovereignty was never ceded.
We also acknowledge the plants, animals, fungi, soils, waterways, star-filled sky... and learn from their intricate connections.
We are motivated to reinvigorating their vitality.Â
