ACA "SPIT" NIGHT

Actors Centre Australia’s Writers Group is returning for its fourth year running, with our writers teaming up with a band of musicians to create ACA’s first ever “SPIT NIGHT”.

The concept of “SPIT NIGHT” was created in the UK and popularised on social media, taking slam poetry to the next level with live music accompaniment. After discovering the art form online, Director/Curator Libby McAneney was inspired to introduce it to our Actors Centre community.

As our previous writers group shows involved artists performing pieces written by their peers, Libby thought the idea of writers getting to perform their own very personal and emotive pieces would be a refreshing change and challenge for the group.

Being able to combine spoken word with live music was also very enticing. The ACA “SPIT NIGHT” band have been working alongside the writers to create accompaniment that respectfully supports and accents each piece.

Come join this talented and diverse group of artists in a relaxed performance space. Bring blankets, snacks, your drink of choice, and come together to celebrate the unique voices of our magnificent community.

Please enter via the lift. We are located on level 2 of the complex. Ushers will be present to assist you on the night. Audience will gather in the foyer before being escorted to the performance space.
