Every drop matters: water-smart homes for climate resilience and ecological health
Description
This community talk will explore ways to capture, use, divert and manage rainwater at home for a healthier and more climate resilient urban ecosystem.
Learn why keeping water on your property and allowing it to soak into the soil is one of the most effective things you can do to support urban trees, your garden, birds, insects and local biodiversity.
We’ll also explore the bigger picture — how household water choices influence the health of our creeks, rivers and coastal environments, and why smarter water management is an important part of building climate-resilient communities.
In this session, you’ll discover:
how to maximise rainwater collection and diversion
why slowing water down and getting it into the soil matters for urban ecosystems
how what you do on your property impacts the health of local waterways and marine environments
practical actions you can take
a local case study showing what water-smart living can looks like in practice.
This event is being organised by Green Adelaide with support from City of Mitcham for Adelaide Climate Action Week.
