Keynote Speech by Stela Solar
Stela Solar is the Inaugural Director of Australia’s National AI Centre hosted by CSIRO, with the mission to accelerate positive AI adoption and innovation that benefits business and community. Currently, Stela also serves as Co-chair of the Commonwealth AI Consortium. She has previously held roles at Microsoft including Global Director of AI Solution Sales, as well as roles across IT distributors and technology startups. With a background in sustainability and creative industries, Stela thrives in ambiguity, change and purpose-led organisations.With her extensive experience in AI research and development, Stela has been a pivotal figure in shaping the future of AI in Australia. Stela will delve into the latest AI innovations, discussing how these advancements are reshaping industries and society.
Panel Discussion
Hear from Fei Tan, Telstra's General Manager of Data and AI Solutions, Australia's leading telecommunications and technology company. Fei has over 10 years of experience in applying engineering, analytics, and data science skills to various industries, including banking, media, and telecom. In her current role, she is actively exploring opportunities to accelerate AI adoption across Telstra, focusing on corporate and employee functions. Ultimately, supporting Telstra with data-driven insights and solutions. Craig Scroggie, CEO and Managing Director of NEXTDC, Craig Scroggie is the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of NEXTDC, Australia’s leading Data-Centre-as-a-Service provider. Prior to becoming CEO in June 2012, Mr. Scroggie served on the Board of Directors since IPO (2010) as a Non-Executive Director, including as Chairman of the Audit and Risk Management Committee. With a national footprint of 13 data centres, 5 in development phase and a further 5 in planning, NEXTDC plays a critical role in facilitating the explosive demand for premium grade digital infrastructure services required for modern businesses and society. Mr. Scroggie has more than 25 years’ experience in the ICT industry, having held senior positions with Symantec, Veritas Software, Computer Associates, EMC Corporation, and Fujitsu. Prior to joining NEXTDC, Mr. Scroggie was Symantec’s Vice President and Managing Director for the Pacific Region. Mr. Scroggie currently serves on the Boards of Sovereign Cloud Holdings (ASX:SOV) and University of Southern Queensland Business School Advisory Board. He is also Chairman of the La Trobe University Business School Advisory Board and holds the position of Adjunct Professor.
