Accelerated Mindshifting for District and School Administrators
Event description
As an administrator, how can you get the people in your district or school to make the changes you need in order to move forward? Why do they resist change, why do they become so defensive, and what can you do about it?
We all have the very quick “survival mind” as well as the slower “sage mind.” These two sides of our brains affect the mindsets of every single human being in the world, children, adults, scientists, politicians, educators, parents, students, every single one of us. A mindset refers to the attitudes, beliefs, and ways of thinking that determine a person’s behavior, outlook, and mental attitude towards a situation. Your mindset in a situation, or a student’s mindset, or a coworker’s, friend’s, opponent’s, or family member’s mindset is going to determine what actions and behaviors happen, including how well they learn.
Mindshifting refers to the practice of deliberately changing our perception, beliefs, and attitudes to transform our mindset. It involves stepping outside of our comfort zones, challenging our preconceived notions, and embracing new ways of thinking. By Mindshifting, we can become more resourceful individuals, better equipped to handle obstacles, and seize opportunities for growth.
When administrators have a strong understanding of Mindshifting, they enhance their ability to effectively guide and nurture their school and district communities away from the reactive survival mind and toward their resourceful sage minds.
When teachers have a strong understanding of Mindshifting, they are able to better handle adversity and foster a growth mindset in their students. When students have a strong understanding of Mindshifting, they become more persistent, develop executive function, and think critically and creatively.
