Accelerating Policy Change in Southeast Michigan
Event description
Are you working to improve the health and well-being of residents in southeastern Michigan? Do you want to expand your core skills in law and policy, as well as gain strategies and implementation tools to accelerate your efforts?
Join ChangeLab Solutions, Big Cities Health Coalition, and local partners for Accelerating Policy Change in Southeast Michigan — a convening for changemakers who want to deepen their skill set for advancing local policy change. The convening is designed for . . .
Public health practitioners inside and outside of government
Other government staff at the local or state level
Leaders from community-based organizations
Health care professionals who work on the root causes of health issues
Our guest panelists and speakers will cover a wide range of content on public health policies, including examples of relevant local issues. Attendees are welcome to bring their own policy priorities to the event to workshop ideas and identify policy action steps they can take to center and advance the needs of the communities they serve. Strategies will be focused on people-centered policymaking, to help ensure that community members whose health and lives are most affected by policies have a voice in the process.
By participating in a day of small-group activities, interactive sessions, and inspiring panel discussions, you’ll gain more knowledge about . . .
Reading and understanding the law
Finding opportunities for community-centered policy change with your partners
Identifying who holds the legal authority needed to create change
During the convening, you’ll develop next steps that you can apply directly to work that serves your community. After the event, you’ll receive a certificate of completion and a resource guide to support your efforts.
