About this event:

The shift to a circular economy is underway in Australia and is being accelerated by recent commitments from the NSW and federal government towards net-zero by 2050. The Hunter and Central Coast region has the opportunity to lead this shift and in doing so drive employment, economic opportunities and reduce emissions and waste generation.

To better understand where opportunities for our region may lie, the Hunter and Central Coast Circle City Scan was carried out. This event launches the report and shares key insights and opportunities for the region circular economy.

Collaboration across organisations has been a key feature of this effort. The City Scan emerged from a partnership led by Lake Macquarie City Council, the City of Newcastle, the Hunter Joint Organisation, Central Coast Council and Go Circular, assisted by the University of Newcastle. The project was supported by the federal government’s APR. Intern program and the Netherlands-based consultancy, Circle Economy, creators of the Circle City Scan tools.
