Accessibility Champion Workshop (VIC)
Event description
Disability Sports Australia is hosting an Accessibility Champion Workshop, presented by Bupa.
This free, in-person workshop will bring together community and grassroots sport providers to hear from people with lived experience and others actively involved in disability sport. The focus is on building the confidence and practical skills needed to make sport more welcoming and inclusive for people with disability.
While awareness of accessibility is growing, there is still uncertainty about how to remove barriers and create environments where people with disability can participate in the way they choose.
This workshop will provide practical examples, strategies, and resources that can be applied immediately in local clubs and organisations.
At the workshop, we’ll cover:
Creating welcoming and accessible environments
Simple, low-cost modifications for programs, venues, and equipment
Communication techniques that help everyone feel included
Access to free resources through the Accessibility Champion course to support ongoing inclusion
Who should attend: Coaches, volunteers, administrators, and anyone involved in community or grassroots sport who wants to make their programs more welcoming for people with disability.
Date: Monday 13 October
Location: Champions Room (Melbourne Sport and Aquatic Centre)
Time: 5:30 PM – 8:00 PM
This event is free to attend, however registrations are required.
Places are expected to fill quickly, register today!
Presented by Bupa and delivered by Disability Sports Australia, this workshop strengthens grassroots sport by equipping clubs and coaches with the knowledge, resources, and confidence to be more inclusive.
Together, we’re creating environments where people with disability are welcomed, supported, and able to participate in the way they choose.
